Lina Iris Viktor is a British-Liberian multidisciplinary artist who was born in London, England in 1987. She is known for her paintings, sculptures, photographs, and performance art. Viktor combines ancient and modern art forms to create multimedia paintings, using an ancient technique called gilding with photography and painting to create 'symbols and intricate patterns.' She overlays 24-karat gold over dark canvases to create works with 'layers of light.' Her art explores the socio-political and historical preconceptions surrounding 'blackness' and its universal implications. Viktor currently lives and works in Italy.
