Biography:
Longton Hall porcelain, a soft-paste English porcelain produced for only about 10 years (1749–60). It is both heavy and translucent but has many faults both in potting and glazing. The factory was established at Longton Hall in Staffordshire, England, around 1749 by William Jenkinson who rented Longton Hall from Obadiah Wedgwood. The factory was closed in 1760. Examples of Longton Hall porcelain are rare and expensive. The factory is known for its hand painted marks in underglaze blue.
