Biography:

Pol Mara, also known as Louis Leysen, was a Belgian painter born in Anvers in 1920. He is a major figure in the new figuration and Belgian pop art movement. His paintings of the 1940s were in the tradition of Flemish realism, but he later developed a more personal vision of pop art, affirming the figuration in his works. Pol Mara passed away in 1998.
