Luca Papaluca, also known as Luca Papaluca the Elder, was an Italian pier-head painter. He was active primarily in Port Naples, Italy. His works are typically gouache paintings with the ship's name in print centered, often featuring Mt. Vesuvius as a background element. Sometimes he painted pairs of pictures depicting the same vessel in fair and stormy weather. Papaluca's signature is usually L. Papaluca on a diagonal, underscored with a slash.
