Mahmoud Mohammed Taha, also known as Ustaz Mahmoud Mohammed Taha, was a Sudanese religious thinker, leader, and trained engineer. He is best known for developing the concept of the 'Second Message of Islam', which postulates that the verses of the Qur'an revealed in Medina were appropriate in their time as the basis of Islamic law, but that the verses revealed in Mecca represented the ideal and universal religion.
Mahmoud Mohammed Taha was born in 1909 in Sudan. He received his early education in Sudan and later went on to study engineering. His interest in Islamic thought and philosophy led him to develop a unique perspective on the interpretation of the Qur'an.
Although not widely recognized as an artist, Mahmoud Mohammed Taha's thoughts and writings have had a significant impact on the Sudanese art scene.
