Biography:

Manoranjan Chitrakar, also known as Manu, is a veteran artist from Pingla, West Bengal, India. He was born in 1977 and has been practicing the traditional art of Patachitra for over 30 years. Manu has visited France in 2015 to attend the prestigious Festival de Gannat, where he exhibited his traditional long scrolls with mythological themes and products with Patachitra motifs. He is known for his expertise in Santhal Tribal Pattachitra, depicting scenes such as fish marriage and ethnic dance in vivid hues. Manu has also been honored with the Padma Shri, the country's fourth-highest civilian award, in 2020. He is currently serving as a Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Mandi since June 2024.
