Biography:
Guillaume Werniers was a French tapestry manufacturer born in Lille in 1690 and died in 1761. He is known for his work on the Lille Teniers series, which was inspired by the imagery of Flemish artists David Teniers the Younger and his son David III. Werniers obtained the Teniers cartoons from Jacob van der Borcht and Le Clerc and reproduced and altered them in various ways in his tapestries. The Lille Teniers series is considered to be among the finest in the Quirinal, showcasing some moments of life in the countryside.
