Biography:
Mari Ogihara is a Japanese ceramist born in Tsukuba, Japan in 1980. She holds an MFA from Tyler School of Art. Ogihara came to Women's Studio Workshop as a Chili Bowl Workspace resident, where she made fifty vessels using a unique combination of wheel-thrown and hand-built techniques. Her work often explores the intersection of function and form, and she is known for her innovative use of materials and processes. Ogihara's work has been exhibited internationally and is held in numerous private and public collections.
