Biography:

Maria Leontina Mendes Ferreira Cabral Hogan, also known as Maria Leontina de Cabral Hogan, was a Portuguese medium, spiritist, and feminist activist. She was born in Funchal to a wealthy family of the Madeiran bourgeoisie, and married twice in her lifetime. In 1925, she became a spiritist and corresponded with the poet and writer Alfredo Pimenta. She was also a member of the National Council of Portuguese Women and served as the president of the Literature Section from 1942 until her death in 1943. She is buried in a family tomb in the Alto de São João Cemetery in Lisbon.
