Biography:

Maria Rosa Hagenauer-Barducci was an Italian-Austrian painter and wax modeller. She was born around 1744 in Florence, Italy. Her father was Giuseppe Barducci, an economist who worked for a Marquis Albuzi in Florence. In 1764, she married Johann Baptist Hagenauer, an architect and sculptor from Salzburg. The couple had at least one child together. Rosa Hagenauer was known to have painted portraits of Anna Maria Mozart, the mother of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, as well as other notable figures of her time. She also worked as a wax modeller, creating sculptures for various clients. After her husband's family fell out with the Archbishop of Salzburg, they moved to Vienna in 1771. Rosa Hagenauer died on June 18, 1786, at the age of around 42.
