Biography:

Mariana Sissia was born in Ramallo, Argentina in 1980. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Painting at the University of Rosario from 1998 to 2003. Mariana has also participated in a clinic with Ernesto Ballesteros and the Program for Artists at the Torcuato Di Tella University from 2011 to 2012. In 2013, she was part of a residency at the Banff Centre in Canada. She has had individual exhibitions in Buenos Aires, San Paulo, Chicago, and participated in collective exhibitions and international fairs in Mexico City, Miami, Barcelona, Lima, Basel, Bogotá, among others. In 2016, she published 'Mental Landscape', a book that compiles much of her work. Her artwork explores the possibilities of drawing as a zone where physical practice meets psychic experiences, addressing her technique not as a means of representation but as a graphic action capable of enabling certain states of consciousness close to meditation.
