Biography:
Mary Mattingly is a visual artist who builds a Fine Art photography & sculpture photography ecosystem that prioritizes access to food, shelter & clean water. She is best known for large-scale sculptures of ecosystems and imagined futures. Mary Mattingly was born in Rockville, Connecticut, and received a BFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art and the Parsons School of Design and a Yale University School of Art Fellowship. She was a resident at Eyebeam Art and Technology Center from 2011 to 2012. Her work explores issues of sustainability, climate change and displacement, combining photography, performance, and public sculptures. In the summer of 2009, she moved out of her New York apartment and onto a barge for a five-month experiment in off-grid urban living. Mary Mattingly is also known for her social engagement and community participation in her artworks.
