Biography:
Tommaso del Mazza, also known as the Master of Saint Verdiana, was an Italian painter. He was active in Florence, Prato and Pisa between 1375 and 1391. Tommaso del Mazza was trained in Florence, initially in the studio of Andrea Orcagna, but later with his brother. He was the owner of a painting workshop in Florence and worked in the late Gothic style at the beginning of the Florentine Renaissance. In the 1390s, the Master of Saint Verdiana left the workshop to become an independent artist. There is little information on his death, which probably occurred in Florence around 1400.
