Mennecy Porcelain Manufactory

Biography:

The Mennecy Porcelain Manufactory, also known as the Villeroy-Mennecy porcelain or simply Mennecy porcelain, was a French soft-paste porcelain factory established under the patronage of Louis-François-Anne de Neufville, duc de Villeroy (1695–1766). The manufactory began its operations in 1737 and continued until around 1806. It was located in Mennecy, a commune in the Essonne department in Île-de-France region of France. The porcelain produced by this factory is known for its lightness and translucency, as well as its distinctive color palette dominated by claret-hued purple accompanied by blue, green, and yellow hues.
