Biography:

Michael Krebber is a German conceptual artist, born in 1954 in Cologne, Germany. He is best known for his sparse canvases and sculptures, which work within the formal language of abstract painting to humorously dissect art history and representational imagery. Krebber has spent the past forty years in pursuit of new routes into and out of painting, ever-conscious of claims for the medium's exhaustion yet committed to its endurance. He has taught at the Städelschule in Frankfurt and lived and worked in Cologne before moving to New York in 2016. Krebber's work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world, including at the Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare in Bolzano, the Museum Brandhorst in Munich, and the Greene Naftali Gallery in New York.
