Biography:

Michael Zansky is an American artist born in 1947 in the Bronx, New York. He works in installation art, sculpture, painting, and photography. He is known for his cycle History as Ruin, which began in 1992, and his series of works titled Traces, which started in 1994. Zansky's work often explores the relationship between nature and culture, and he has been compared to the Spanish painter Francisco Goya in terms of his dark and irrational themes. He studied at Boston University and Hunter College, and his work has been exhibited at Berry-Hill Galleries, Exit Art, and the Aldrich Contemporary Museum of Art.
