Biography:
Charles Fichot, also known as Michel Charles Fichot, was born in Troyes, France in 1817 and died in Paris in 1903. He was a French artist known for his paintings, drawings, illustrations, and lithographs. He studied architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris and became a painter, draftsman, illustrator, and lithographer. He was made a Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur. He was known for his architectural and landscape paintings, and collaborated with other artists such as Amédée Aufauvre and Karl Fichot. He exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1841 to 1875 and received a mention honorable in 1887. He was also known for his collaborations with the journal satirique local La Silhouette and the national L'Illustration. He was also known for his collaborations with the baron de Guilhermy on the Itinéraire archéologique de Paris and with Amédée Aufauvre on the Monuments de Seine-et-Marne. He was also known for his collaborations with his son Karl Fichot on lithographies de grand format for the éditeur Turgis.
