Biography:
Miquel Torell, also known as Miquel Torell [attributed]. Olot Master, was a Spanish painter from Gerona, Spain. He was active between 1471 and 1486. Torell was a painter of the Gothic style and is known for his work on the Altarpiece of Santa Cristina de Corçà. He was originally an apprentice in the workshop of Juan Rius in Zaragoza, and later worked in the workshop of Ramon Solà II. Torell is believed to be the Master of Olot, although some historians have raised doubts about this identification. He is known for his use of oil and tempera in his paintings, and his works are characterized by their attention to detail and their use of color. Torell's paintings are held in collections around the world, including the Museu d'Art in Girona, Spain.
