Biography:
Miroslav Ksandr was a Slovak sculptor and painter. He was born on July 11, 1931, in Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia. Ksandr studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava from 1950 to 1955. He worked in the field of monumental and figurative sculpture, as well as drawing. His works often reflected his sensitive relationship with national traditions. Some of his notable works include the Monument to Airmen on Sliač, the Monument to Pavol Dobšinský in Drienčan, and the Welcome sign on Highway D1 near Liptovský Jáň. Ksandr's work was also characterized by his exceptional skill in drawing, particularly in watercolor sketching. Unfortunately, a progressing illness forced him to stop creating sculptures in the 1990s.
