Biography:

Henrietta Snowden is a Master Sergeant in the United States Army and a Staff Artist at the Center of Military History. She was previously stationed at Allied Forces Northwestern Europe, NATO, in England. Snowden was the Army’s Artist-in-Residence at the time of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and created a painting of the devastation while the images were still fresh in her mind. She also created an illustrated book of Regular Army uniforms, 1775-2001, called 'Today’s Soldier'. Snowden is also known for her painting 'Waiting to Phone Home', which portrays a tired Soldier seated on an uncomfortable chair in an austere setting.
