Biography:
Nakazawa Hiromitsu was a prominent Western-style painter in the Meiji through Showa eras who also produced outstanding works of design. He was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1874 and died in 1964. Nakazawa studied at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts and was one of the earliest moku-hanga artists. He was also a proponent of the 'new woodblock print' (shin-hanga) movement. Nakazawa's art is recognized among collectors of Japanese prints for his renowned artwork, 'Heroine Chushingura'. He was also known as Nakazawa Hiromitsu (中沢弘光).
