Biography:
Nelda Warkentin is an artist born in 1948 in Wilton, United States. She is known for her portraits and her love for nature. She was inspired by her experiences in Alaska and her travels throughout the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, and Russia. She built a studio in the attic of an old farm house in western Maine in 2004, where she spent more time and found new inspiration in the environment. She has exhibited her work in numerous galleries, museums, and other venues, including U.S. and NATO embassies in Moscow, Cape Town, and Brussels. Her work is in numerous public, private, corporate, and museum collections. She is a member of Audubon and has been painting portraits exclusively for several years. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Award of Distinction at Quilt Nihon in Japan and the Domini McCarthy Award at Quilt National. She was also the artist-in-residence at the Weir Farm Historic Site in Wilton, CT, in 2006. She has been featured in Lark Books, 'Masters: Art Quilts, Volume 2'.
