Olga Albizu Rosaly

, a renowned abstract expressionist painter from Ponce, Puerto Rico, was born on May 31, 1924. She was the first woman dedicated to abstraction in Puerto Rico, paving the way for future generations of female artists. Albizu studied painting with the Spanish painter Esteban Vicente from 1943 to 1947 and later with Hans Hoffman, a legendary teacher of many Abstract Expressionists.

Career and Notable Works

Albizu's artistic career was marked by her participation in various exhibitions, including the First Comprehensive Exhibition of Contemporary Puerto Rican Artists in 1957. Her works have been featured in several museums, including the Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico and the Pan American Union in New York. Some of her notable works include:
