Biography:

Papa Vitan Tsonyuv was an iconographer and a priest from Tryavna, Bulgaria. He was ordained as a priest in 1795 and his earliest signed icon is of the Church of Saint Nicholas (1798) in the village of Raduil. Papa Vitan Tsonyuv was part of the Tryavna Art School which played an important role during the Bulgarian National Revival period.
