Pello Irazu Mendizabal is a Spanish sculptor born in Andoain, Spain, in 1963. He is considered one of the key figures in the renewal of Basque sculpture from the 1980s. Irazu's work constitutes an essential contribution to the language of contemporary constructive sculpture. He began making a name for himself in the 1980s, participating in the renewal of Basque and Spanish sculpture. Over the following three decades, he has participated in numerous exhibitions and received various awards, including the Iris Awards in 2001. Irazu's sculptures often incorporate elements of architecture and design, challenging traditional notions of sculpture and inviting viewers to consider the relationship between form and function.
