Biography:

Pericles Papachatzidakis was born in Asia Minor in the town of Kato Panaghia in 1905. In 1914, he moved with his family to Chios where he spent his youth. He was a keen traveler and ardent amateur photographer, trekking over Chios and documenting the monuments and landscapes. He studied law in Athens and became a lawyer, but his passion for photography never waned. He became a member of the Hellenic Photographic Society in 1932 and served as its president from 1953 to 1955. He was also a member of the International Federation of Photographic Art. Papachatzidakis's work is known for its technical excellence and artistic merit, and he has won numerous awards for his photography. He died in Athens in 1990.
