Biography:

Peter Zumthor is a Swiss architect born in Basel in 1943. He is known for his minimalist and uncompromising style. He is the winner of the 2009 Pritzker Prize and 2013 RIBA Royal Gold Medal. He studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Basel and at the Pratt Institute in New York. He became conservationist architect for the Department for the Preservation of Monuments of the canton of Graubünden in 1968. He has been practicing in the village of Haldenstein, Switzerland since 1979.
