Phil Roberts is a Welsh former professional footballer who played as a right back for Bristol Rovers, Portsmouth, Hereford United, and Exeter City. He won six Wales Under 23 caps while with Bristol Rovers and four full Welsh caps while at Portsmouth. Roberts made 175 appearances for Bristol Rovers, 165 appearances for Portsmouth, 10 appearances for Hereford United, and 115 appearances for Exeter City. He was known for his effective play and was widely regarded at Bristol Rovers. Roberts was born in Cardiff, Wales, and grew up with many surfing legends and stars in Melbourne, Florida. He taught himself how to airbrush at the age of 15 and began painting surfboards at the age of 16. Roberts' art has been described as figurative in any medium, and he has been inspired by Italian Renaissance masters and 19th-century artists. He is known for his stunning, realistic yet dreamlike wave paintings, painted surfboards, art, and winner's trophy for the Pipe Masters in Hawaii. Roberts has also created concept illustrations of wave parks and has been one of the top movie poster illustrators in Hollywood.
