Death: 1496
Biography:
Piero del Pollaiuolo, also known as Piero Benci, was an Italian Renaissance painter from Florence. He was the younger brother of the artist Antonio del Pollaiuolo, and the two frequently worked together. Their work shows both classical influences and an interest in human anatomy, with the brothers reportedly carrying out dissections to improve their knowledge of the subject. Piero is often given less credit than his brother for their collaborative works, but recent scholarship has sought to increase his attributed share of their paintings.
