Biography:
Pietro Magni was an Italian sculptor born in Milan in 1817. He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and later moved to the workshop of Abbondio Sangiorgio. He was influenced by Tuscan sculptor Lorenzo Bartolini and traveled to Rome in 1837. He is best known for his sculpture 'Girl Reading' and the public monument to Leonardo da Vinci on Piazza della Scala. He also executed statues for the Milan Cathedral in the 1860s. Pietro Magni died in Milan in 1877.
