Biography:

Pino Pinelli was born on October 1st, 1938 in Catania, Italy. He moved to Milan in 1963 and has been living there ever since. In the early years of his career, he was attracted by the works of Lucio Fontana and Piero Manzoni. His work explores the essence of painting itself through innovative use of materials and formal elements. Pinelli's art is characterized by aniconism, with a focus on perception as part of an indivisible sensory and psychic totality that forms our emotional and rational response to images. He was one of the major representatives of the Pittura analitica ('analytic painting') movement in the 1970s. Pino Pinelli passed away on April 30th, 2024.
