Biography:
Protaso Gerolamo Stambucchi was an Italian painter born in Bologna, Italy in 1757. He was known for his portraits and made his fortune by obtaining the contract to make the portrait of Giovanni Battista Mellerio in 1772. He became a count in 1772 and made his fortune by obtaining the contract to make the portrait of Giovanni Battista Mellerio. He participated in the conclave of 1799-1800 in Venice and retired to Bologna until the opening of the conclave. He painted the portrait of Giovanni Battista Caprara Montecuccoli in 1811. He died in 1833.
