, a renowned Dutch painter, printmaker, and draughtsman, was born on July 15, 1606, in Leiden, Netherlands. He was the ninth child of Harmen Gerritszoon van Rijn and Neeltgen Willemsdochter van Zuijtbrouck. Rembrandt's family was well-to-do, with his father being a miller and his mother a baker's daughter.

Career

Rembrandt's artistic journey began in 1620 when he enrolled at the University of Leiden, but soon shifted to painting under Jacob van Swanenburg. He later apprenticed with Pieter Lastman in Amsterdam for six months. In 1625, Rembrandt opened a studio in Leiden, sharing it with Jan Lievens, and started accepting students, including Gerrit Dou and Isaac de Jouderville.
