Renata Aparecida Felinto Dos Santos is a Brazilian Postwar & Contemporary artist, born in São Paulo in 1978. She is an Afro-diasporic woman and mother, living and working in Crato, Brazil. Renata has been working in the visual arts for 20 years as an artist, researcher, and educator. She has a Master and PhD in Visual Arts from the University of São Paulo.
Renata's work is currently being shown at Museu de Arte Moderna (MAM) of São Paulo in Sao Paulo. She has been nominated for the PIPA Prize in 2020. Renata's oeuvre merges as a conjunction between an gesture of contamination, of blurring the barriers, the artist reflects on practices of marginalization, exclusion and geographically-tinged racism.
Renata's work is characterized by its contemporary style, exploring themes such as identity, culture, and social justice. Her artistic approach is a reflection of her Afro-diasporic background and her experiences as a woman and mother in Brazil.
