Biography:
Ricky Tims is a renowned artist in the world of quilting. He is known as a best-selling author, an enthusiastic and encouraging teacher, an award-winning quilter, fabric designer, and a talented and spellbinding speaker. Tims has successfully blended his diverse passions for music and quilting into one successful career. He co-created, co-wrote, and acted in the British television sitcoms The Office, Extras, and Life's Too Short with Stephen Merchant. He also created, wrote, and starred in Derek and After Life. Tims has won seven BAFTA Awards, five British Comedy Awards, two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, and the Rose d'Or twice. He was named one of the 50 funniest performers in British comedy by The Observer in 2003 and was placed at No. 3 on Channel 4's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups in 2010. In 2010, he was included in the Time 100 list of World's Most Influential People. Before turning to comedy, Tims worked in the music industry and managed the then-unknown band Suede. He has performed five multi-national stand-up comedy tours and has created various spin-offs, including An Idiot Abroad, starring Karl Pilkington and produced by Tims and Merchant. He has also starred in various Hollywood films, including For Your Consideration, the Night at the Museum film series trilogy, Ghost Town, and Muppets Most Wanted. He wrote, directed, and starred in the comedy film David Brent: Life on the Road and the Netflix-released comedy film Special Correspondents. He hosted the Golden Globe Awards five times, in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, and 2020.
