Biography:
Robert Walrond was a New Zealand photographer, known for his photographs of athletes and sports events. He was a member of the New Zealand Camera Club and won several awards for his work. He was also a member of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League, a black nationalist fraternal organization founded by Marcus Garvey. Walrond's most famous work is 'Cleopatra in Domain cricket ground' taken in 1914, which is a glass plate negative. He was also a writer and contributed to the 'New Zealand Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic Review'.
