Biography:
Robyn Caughlan is an Indigenous Australian artist and textile and fashion designer. She grew up in a foster home and did not learn of her Aboriginal heritage until the age of 18. Caughlan is a Dharug woman from Western Sydney, and her fashion work has included designs for the Miss World, Miss Universe and Miss Teen pageants. She is also known for her murals, paintings, and textile designs. Caughlan has collaborated with local indigenous artist Tracie Bertram on various projects, including the Blacktown Village Green water feature and etched concrete wall design. Caughlan's art is influenced by her multicultural heritage and her experiences as an Indigenous woman in Australia. She is also the author of 'Waiting at the Gate', a memoir about her life.
