Biography:

Rudolf Kaesbach was a German sculptor born on July 22, 1873, in Mönchengladbach, Germany. He died on December 4, 1955, in Berlin. Kaesbach was the son of Carl Josef Kaesbach and Anna Petronella Kaesbach, and had three brothers, including Walter Kaesbach, a Kunsthistoriker. He studied at the academies in Hanau, Paris, and Brussels, and opened his own workshop in Düsseldorf where he created sculptures after his own models. In 1904, he moved to Berlin and began working as a sculptor, presenting a series of life-size marble figures at exhibitions in Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Malmö. He was known for his depiction of female nudes and his works often transcended the Jugendstil style to move towards Art déco. Kaesbach participated in the Great German Art Exhibitions in Munich in 1939, 1940, 1941, and 1943, which were representative of art in the National Socialist era.
