Biography:
Ryuichi Sakamoto (1952-2023) was a Japanese composer, pianist, record producer, and actor. He was a co-founder of the influential electronic music group Yellow Magic Orchestra (YMO) and released numerous solo albums, collaborations, and soundtracks throughout his career. Sakamoto's work spanned various electronic music genres and he was known for his experimental approach and collaborations with international artists. He also composed music for films, anime, and video games, earning accolades such as an Academy Award, a BAFTA, a Grammy, and two Golden Globe Awards. Sakamoto was awarded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the Ministry of Culture of France in 2009 for his contributions to music.
