Ryumonji-yaki kigyo kumiai is a cooperative of ceramic artists from Kagoshima, Japan. They have been producing ceramics for about four hundred years, using raw materials from the local area. The cooperative is known for its black Satsuma Ware, which is made with a reddish brown glaze that turns jet black after being fired under high temperatures. The cooperative's work is characterized by its simplicity and functionality, and is often used in daily life. The cooperative continues to produce a variety of vessels, including ones made with black glaze.
