Biography:
Sante Monachesi was an Italian painter and sculptor who belonged to the modern movement of the Scuola romana (Roman School) and founded the Movimento Futurista nelle Marche (Futurist Movement of Marche) in 1932. He studied at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (centre expérimental du film or école de cinéma nationale italienne) in Rome. In the 1930s, he embraced the Futurism movement with both diagonal and spiral forms in his paintings and sculptures, experimenting with aluminum in a moving light. He was an important representative of Aeropittura (Aéropeinture) and exhibited at the Biennale di Venezia in 1936 and at the Exposition Universelle de Paris in 1937. He had several solo exhibitions in Paris, Ancona, Jesolo, Milan, and Civitanova Marche.
