Jagori, also known as Satinath Bhaduri, was a Bengali novelist born in Calcutta, India in 1918. He is best known for his novel 'Jagari' or 'Jagori', which is considered a masterpiece of Indian literature. The semi-autobiographical novel is set in the 1940s during the Quit India Movement and tells the story of an Indian revolutionary sentenced to death. The novel is written from four different perspectives, including that of the convict, his father, mother, and brother. Jagori passed away in 1996.
