Biography:
Savely Lapitsky was born in Leningrad in 1924. His father was a doctor and his mother retouched images in a famous photo studio. In 1938, he won first place in a citywide art competition. During World War II, he was evacuated from the Blockade of Leningrad and sent to the front. After the war, he studied at the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he was a student of Boris Ioganson. In 1957, he became a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists. He worked in the genres of portrait, still life, and landscape. His works are held in the collections of the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art, among others.
