Biography:
Seimin Workshop was a Japanese artist who specialized in precise bronze sculpture using the lost-wax method. Much of his work was of Buddhist subjects, such as the casting of 500 arhats (disciples of the Buddha) at Kenchoji Temple in Kamakura. He was particularly famed for his tortoises, with one example being signed by the maker and dated to the late 19th century. Seimin Workshop also created other small-scale works including flower vases and other ornaments. He passed away in 1937.
