Biography:
Serafino Elmo was an Italian painter of the Baroque period. He was born in Lecce, Italy in 1696 and died in 1777. Elmo's works are mostly religious paintings, and he is known for his mastery of oil on canvas. One of his notable works is the painting 'Saint Orontius is mandated to protect Lecce', which is now housed at the Museum of Sacred Art MuDAS. He was active in his hometown of Lecce and did not travel outside of Salento, where he probably received his training as an artist.
