Biography:
Serwan Baran is an Iraqi Kurdish artist born in 1968 in Baghdad, Iraq. He studied at the University of Babylon, College of Fine Arts, and graduated in 1992. Baran's paintings often center on the turbulent history of his native Iraq. He is a member of several art associations and has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the Arab world, Europe, and the Americas. In 2019, Baran represented Iraq at the Venice Biennale with his work 'Dog of the General'.
