Biography:

Shirley Paes Leme is a Brazilian artist born in Cachoeira Dourada, GO, Brazil in 1955. She began her artistic training in 1975 on the UFMG Fine Arts Course and was a student of Amilcar de Castro. Between 1981 and 1986, she traveled to several countries, attending the University of Arizona in 1983, and the Art Institute of San Francisco and the University of California, Berkeley in 1984. She received her M.F.A. from John F. Kennedy University, Orinda, California, USA in 1986. She lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil. The forms of Shirley Paes Leme’s production are diverse, including installation, video, drawing, and photography.
