Biography:
Kosei Shirotani is a Japanese artist born in Nagasaki in 1968. He worked in architectural and design offices in Milan, Italy from 1991 to 2002. In 2002, he returned to Japan and established Studio Shirotani in Unzen-Shi, Nagasaki. He is known for his design philosophy and methodology called PROGETTAZIONE, which emerged in postwar Italy. He has been the subject of a series of four talk sessions titled 'Cultivate: the Works of Designer Kosei Shirotani' at AXIS Gallery. Shirotani's work has been exhibited at the National Crafts Museum in Japan and the 2019 GwangjuDesignBiennale Gallery4. His notable works include 'CAST' and 'Glassware for Ease and Grace of Movement - CAST'. Shirotani's Instagram account has 266 followers and 68 posts as of February 2024.
