Simone Martinez, also known as Simone Tommaso Manfredi Martinez, was an Italian sculptor born in Messina, Italy in 1689 and died in Torino, Italy in 1768. He was the son of an argentiere, Francesco Martinez, and Natalizia Juvarra, sister of the more famous Filippo. Simone Martinez was educated in a pluridisciplinary way, with a strong influence from the Roman school of art. He studied under the guidance of his uncle Filippo Juvarra, who was an architect and painter. Simone Martinez's work is characterized by a strong attention to detail and a deep understanding of the human form. He is best known for his work in marble, and his sculptures are highly prized for their beauty and craftsmanship. Some of his most famous works include the 'Autunno' marble sculpture from 1741.
