Biography:
Sir James Hopwood Jeans was an English physicist, astronomer and mathematician. He was born on September 11, 1877 in Ormskirk, United Kingdom and died on September 16, 1946 in Dorking, Surrey. He was educated at Merchant Taylors' School and Trinity College, Cambridge. He made important contributions to the development of quantum theory and the theory of general relativity. He is also known for his work on the origins of the universe and the nature of matter. He was knighted in 1928 for his services to science.
